Shanxi, circa 1880
This elm table, with its sturdy, thick top and subtly splayed legs, was crafted in the latter half of the nineteenth century in Shanxi province. Featuring two drawers with simple ring handles that highlight the elegant grain of the wood, as well as a bottom shelf for displaying ornaments or storing books and magazines, it’s perfect as a compact console in a hallway or living area. The charming, weathered appearance in the pale, natural colour of the wood, adds a rich character formed from decades of use.
